The story of the collapse in “Separation / Romeo / Juliet”

The director of “Separation / Romeo / Juliet” said that the play tells the story of couples who go under the same roof without knowing each other and face challenges.

Theater News Base: Iman Mirhashemi, the director of the play “Separation / Romeo / Juliet”, which is on stage in the disciplinary theater of the Artists’ House, said about the features of this play: The play is written by Massoud Taybi and tells the story of the ups and downs of a couple’s love story; Today’s story that must have happened to ourselves or those around us. In this play, a girl and a boy meet by chance and before reaching a complete knowledge of each other based on the excitement and feeling they have for each other, they get married and go under the same roof, but it is only then that with personality aspects. They get to know each other and see that the characteristics and behaviors of each are completely different from what they initially imagined.

He continued: “Regardless of gender, each of us has experienced these issues in some way.” Around me, I have seen many of my friends who, after several years of acquaintance, could not survive together under one roof for even a few months, so this play can be a flip to young couples who, without recognizing and accepting responsibility in their life together and the need for change. Their lifestyle is getting married. I also had a lot of conversations with Dr. Holakouee about the issues raised in this play, and he emphasized in his analysis of the text that the issue of dependence in married life is one of the things that makes the other party Put it in context, and it is because of this dependence that instead of loving the lover, we fall in love with ourselves and, for our own comfort, put the other person in a tight spot or force him to behave as we expect him to.

Mirhashemi, pointing out that the “irresponsibility” of the couple is another issue that has been considered in this play, said: In shaping this play, I went ahead with the idea of what happens when two people live together in a moment. It comes to an end. From the point of view of many experts, marriage is a rational practice and less emotion should be included in it, while these days, marriage among young couples is based more on emotions than logic and we see that separation ends very soon. Whereas when we enter one life, we should be responsible and forgiving, not each of us should follow the routine of our past life.

He explained about the performance ideas of the play: The relationship between these two couples in this play eventually leads to separation and these two become two parallel lines that move together but do not meet. In the design of the stage, we are faced with a simple and naked bench that has no intentional beauty because nothing is left of the couple’s relationship. Of course, at the beginning of the play, because we first portray the relationship where everything is still interesting, we are faced with a fantasy atmosphere, and it seems that the two live in a cartoon world, but the further we go, the more we go from fantasy to realism and finally to naturalism.

At the end of his speech, Mirhashemi, referring to the audience’s good reception of the play, said: The design of the mezzanine is also formed in the form of diagonal lines that intersect each other, because the two eventually never come together and become two parallel lines that They do not meet.

“Separation / Romeo / Juliet” will be staged every night from October 9 to November 28 at 8 pm at the Artists’ Theater.
