The working group also presented several recommendations and proposals for the connection of the water network of the member countries, the discussion of which was postponed to the next meeting of the Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee.

The goal of the members of this project is to turn the water resources of the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf into one of the most important water supply sources for the members of the Cooperation Council.

Due to the water shortage crisis in the region, the member countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council are seeking to meet the challenges in this sector and achieve water security for their members by implementing such projects.

The General Secretariat of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council announced last July that the preparation of an integrated water strategy map has been completed after approval by the High Cooperation Council of the Persian Gulf.

While the Middle East region is facing a serious water shortage problem, the countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf are trying to take precautionary measures through joint cooperation, integration of policies and connection of their networks to the water and electricity security of the Cooperation Council. .

The Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council explained that work is underway to follow the implementation of the strategy of the member states and is in the process of implementing the directives of the leaders of these countries to study the water link between them.

The countries on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf are pursuing integrated economic policies in infrastructure projects and basic services, including water and electricity, to support interdependence among GCC countries and benefit from economies of scale and economic integration.

This cooperation includes achieving water security in the GCC countries by adopting integrated water management and working on joint policies and the adoption of joint water laws, preparing a joint water emergency plan and resolving issues related to the water desalination industry.

Cooperation in the field of electricity and water includes several areas, the most important of which are electricity connection between the GCC countries, creation of electricity and water database, integration of technical specifications of electricity and water, rationalization of electricity and water consumption and development of customer services.

The council also plans to study nuclear energy for electricity generation and water desalination.
