According to the Mehr news agency, a meeting to review the development strategies of the clothing, leather, bags and shoes industry was held this evening (Tuesday), chaired by the first vice president.
Mohammad Mokhber, referring to Iran’s long history in the textile industry and the production of bags and shoes, said: “This industry was the owner of the international market in the past, but unfortunately a large part of this capacity has been damaged and part of the markets has been lost.”
The First Vice President stressed the need for diligent efforts to revive and flourish the clothing, leather, bags and shoes industry in the country and called on the presidents, representatives and directors of unions and associations of related industries to formulate their development plan with an export approach and meet domestic needs. The First Vice President called on the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade to put the modernization of the industry’s machinery on its agenda and to remove barriers to investment.
Referring to some complaints of families and citizens of the country about the lack of clothes and clothes in accordance with Iranian and Islamic culture, the informant called on unions, associations and manufacturers to consider this issue in designing, sewing and producing products.
The First Vice President reminded that Iran is a neighbor of 15 countries and there is a market of about 400 million people in the countries around Iran, noting that the existing capacities and facilities in the country are such that if producers, unions and associations are coordinated, they can In addition to meeting domestic needs, they will also occupy a large part of the market of neighboring countries.
The informant asked the representatives and directors of the associations and unions to convene meetings and working groups and, while agreeing and exchanging views, to announce their most important demands, concerns and needs so that the government can make appropriate and necessary plans for the prosperity of these industries.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and the Acting Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare. They described the most important obstacles, concerns and demands.
Customs issues, fluctuations in raw material and currency prices, lack of working capital, smuggling, incorrect policies, lack of up-to-date machinery, tax barriers and lack of proper training of human resources in universities and barriers to obtaining licenses are among the most important issues and concerns of industry representatives.
