Traces of unknown people in the operating room/ when the Ministry of Health gets involved with CCTV cameras!

Health Department of Fars News Agency – Mohammad Rezazadeh: Not long ago, a letter was published by the Ministry of Health regarding the installation of cameras in the operating rooms of medical centers across the country, which caused a lot of noise in the cyberspace. According to this letter, it was held and approved in a meeting on September 8, with the presence of the representatives of the Attorney General’s Office, the Government Punishment Organization and the Medical System Organization, that in order to “ensure compliance with treatment standards in the presence of specialized forces, equipment and… And to support the salary earners for the continuous and effective presence of the attending physician, surveillance cameras should be installed in the public places in the operating room section.

In this letter, it is emphasized that within the next three months, measures will be taken to install cameras in the operating rooms covered by universities of medical sciences across the country. For this reason, Pedram Pakayin, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, by confirming this instruction, announced and emphasized the reasons of the Ministry of Health for installing cameras in operating rooms to apply the standards of the treatment and surgery process of patients: “Cameras are installed in the corridors and the public space of the operating room and the patient’s privacy is fully respected.”

* Putting an expert in the place of a surgeon!

Although the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health does not fully and clearly state the reason for this issue, two issues have been emphasized by experts in this field. The first issue is the violation of some doctors who are introduced as surgeons and the patient’s surgery should be performed by them, but unfortunately, sometimes this work is entrusted to residents or experts in other fields, a matter that is faced with criticism and complaints from patients every now and then. For this reason, Zidenets have also registered a subject in Fars news agency and demanded that the surgeons stop these illegalities.

The editor of this campaign says: “A surgical resident works 500 hours a month. Many times, it is possible to encounter a patient who has slept only 4 hours in the last 48 hours. In this situation, the possibility of mistakes increases. Here, the medical system only sees the workforce and demands more and more work from the workforce, while in many countries, due to the sensitivity of the medical profession, they have limited the working hours of doctors and residents. In many countries, a resident is not allowed to work more than 80 hours a week, and if he wants to stay at work longer, he is told to go home and rest, but here we spend many hours in the hospital without the presence of a doctor and Even if a problem occurs in the middle of the night, we do not have access to a doctor.”

* Verbal harassment and mistreatment of patients

Non-observance of the charter of patient rights, verbal harassment and mistreatment of patients by the medical staff in the operating room is another reason for this action, so that not long ago the audience of Fars news agency complained about the misbehavior of the operating room staff with pregnant mothers. had done, one of the members of this campaign says: “A mother who wants to have a natural birth must be in the delivery block and monitored for several hours, from six to twelve or thirteen hours, and even more.” During all these hours, midwives and nurses must monitor the patient’s condition and help him. This support is not only therapeutic support, they should provide emotional and psychological support to the mother in enduring this heavy pain. But they mistreated me so much during my two births that I still can’t stop crying when I remember it.”

*The birthday of my first child became the bitterest day of my life

Non-observance of Islamic affairs in the operating rooms and the constant presence of male doctors and nurses in the obstetrics and gynecology operating room is another case that Fars news agency users have requested to be followed up on. Right from the day my first child was born. Although I had taken care during my pregnancy to go to the doctor even for an ultrasound, all my efforts were wasted on the day of delivery. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing in the operating room. Men were constantly moving in the delivery room and even the nurse in the room was a gentleman! I never thought I would face such a situation. I was really shocked. Those conditions were very heavy for me, but there was nothing I could do. I was crying. This incident turned my first child’s birthday, which was supposed to be the best day of my life, into the most bitter day of my life. “

* Private and public hospitals do not respect the law and sharia

Suleiman Heydari, head of the Ministry of Health’s Treatment Monitoring and Accreditation Center, says in this regard, “Everyone who enters a treatment complex is a sick person who needs treatment and respect and has the rights of a citizen, and the hospital is obliged to comply with the patient’s rights charter.” “If people have reports of violations or misbehavior, they should call the 190 number of the Ministry of Health and these issues will be dealt with.” Therefore, it seems that installing CCTV cameras in operating rooms and treatment spaces will help a lot to solve these problems.

He continues: The accreditation of centers has about 500 criteria, and based on that, hospitals are rated and divided into excellent grade, first grade, etc. The score for complying with the standards of compliance law and Shariah issues in scoring the centers has been doubled. If a manager takes over the management of a medical complex, he must be aware of the compliance law, and if a center provides good services and does not comply with the compliance law, it cannot receive a top grade. Compliance with Islamic law and customs is one of the main priorities for us. In the provinces, it was decided to introduce the best centers in complying with the compliance law so that other centers can learn the necessary training from these centers. Private and public hospitals do not know compliance with the law and Sharia, and we emphasized this issue in the meetings we had with the heads of the hospitals and declared that they must comply with the law and Sharia.

* Installing a camera in the operating room is to protect the rights of patients and doctors

Ali Salarian, technical deputy and supervision of the medical system organization, also explains in this regard: the installation of cameras in operating rooms is done based on the notification of the General Directorate of Supervision and Accreditation of the Ministry of Health, so that unqualified people do not perform surgery.

Referring to receiving reports from hospitals about the entry of unqualified people into the operating room, he adds: In some hospitals, especially during cosmetic surgery, people who were not qualified have interfered in the operation. These people entered the operating room as a team of colleagues and assistants and intervened in the treatment. In rare cases, it has been seen that the head of the surgical team has assumed less responsibility and entrusted the majority of work to his assistant, which is a violation..

He explains: Installing a camera in the operating room is to protect the rights of the patient and the doctors so that there is no negligence. It is not acceptable for a non-physician to question the status of the medical profession with his actions. Installing cameras in operating rooms is a common practice in countries around the world. Imaging in the operating room will be such that the patient’s body cannot be seen and only the surgical team can be seen. Surveillance of cameras and videos recorded from the operating room is the responsibility of the hospital security and the Ministry of Health, the installation of cameras includes public and private hospitals and should be operational within 3 months.
