Saudi television reported that two suicide bombers belonging to Yemeni Ansar al-Islam forces attacked King Abdullah Airport in Jazan, southern Saudi Arabia.

Several people were injured in the attack, according to Saudi television, according to Sputnik, quoting the Mehr news agency.

King Abdullah Airport is one of the most important positions of the Saudi coalition in southern Saudi Arabia.

Prior to the attack, Ansar al-Islam officials had repeatedly stressed the need to lift drug and food sanctions against the Yemeni people, which have been intensified by Saudi Arabia since 2015; But this never happened.

Civil strife has been raging in Yemen since 2014. On one side of the conflict are Houthi forces, members of the Shiite Ansar al-Islam movement, and on the other side are the government army and militias loyal to Yemeni President Abd al-Mansour Hadi, which is backed by the international community. Since 2015, the Saudi-led Arab Coalition has begun providing military support to Yemeni government forces. Iran supports the Ansarullah movement, which controls Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, and a significant part of the country.
