Ulyanov: Disputes can be resolved in Vienna

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to the Vienna-based international organizations, tweeted that the differences between Iran and the United States were serious in the Vienna talks.
On the eve of the Vienna talks, he said: “Our contacts with the United States and Iran in the Vienna talks show that both sides are very serious about reviving the UN Security Council, but their views on the relevant ways and means are different.” It is the task of the negotiators to overcome these differences, which is possible in the light of the unity of purpose.
The Russian diplomat, who is representing his country in the Vienna talks, also tweeted that “the seventh round of Vienna talks on reviving the UN Security Council and lifting sanctions will resume tomorrow.”
Earlier, Enrique Mora, the EU’s deputy foreign policy chief and co-ordinator of the UNHCR Joint Commission, tweeted: “The seventh round of UNHCR talks will continue in Vienna tomorrow, Thursday, after consultations in and between the capitals.” A joint commission and a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings will be held.
A new round of talks between Iran and the P5 + 1 to lift US sanctions against Iran was held in Vienna last week, and Iran presented two documents to the other side on lifting sanctions and the nuclear issue, at the request of European parties to consult with their capitals on the two. The document is scheduled to breathe a sigh of relief during the talks and resume this week, which will continue in Vienna on Thursday (tomorrow) under an agreement reached between Bagheri and Mora.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in response to Iran’s proposals: “We are in Vienna negotiating on the basis of the drafts we have given to lift the sanctions and how to stop Iran’s retaliatory measures.” Everything that was written in the texts is based on Barjam and the draft of 6 previous rounds. These proposals basically can not be maximized, but the approach of the United States and Europe is minimal, so they asked to return to their capitals for consultations.
Experts believe that the Western approach shows that they insist on not accepting the continuation of the dialogue on the initiative of Iran, because in that case, Iran has the field of action and the Islamic Republic of Iran can use its unused pressure levers.
A German Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday that Iran’s proposals for its nuclear program were unacceptable, adding that Berlin was still willing to pursue a diplomatic path but that time was running out.
The French Foreign Ministry has also claimed that Iran’s proposals regarding the nuclear base case are not reasonable for any agreement.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also told a news conference on Tuesday evening that the ball was in Iran’s court to show its seriousness, without mentioning the US illegal withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
The remarks came as European countries promised to compensate for the consequences of Washington’s withdrawal after the US withdrawal from the Security Council, but not only did they not comply with the US policy of maximum pressure on Iran.
