For this reason, in recent years, more attention has been paid to attracting health care workers.

In the past, one health care worker was active in schools for every 750 people, but in recent years, efforts are being made to consider one health care worker for every 480 students.

In the previous years, the graduates of health and midwifery fields could always register for the job of school health instructor in the employment exam of education and work if they passed.

However, due to the holding of the recruitment exam for elementary teachers and waiting for the news about the holding of the teacher exam and the recruitment of the educational coach, the graduates of the field of health trends (general – environment), mental health expert, nutrition expert and midwifery are trying to get ahead in the upcoming recruitment exams. In education, a share of acceptances should be allocated to health care workers.

The lack of sufficient number of school health care workers at the same time as the lack of human resources in the education system

It must be accepted that at the same time as there is a shortage of human resources in all departments of the Ministry of Education, the number of health care workers per capita is also inadequate and the number of these people in the country’s education system is low.

In order to better understand the conditions and duties of health care workers, we had a conversation with Ms. Afzali, a trainer and health care worker in District 5 of Tehran.

Mrs. Afzali, who has been introduced as a model provincial teacher this year; Regarding the importance of the role of health care workers, he said: health care workers work on the literacy level of society. The basis of our work starts from the health level of schools and reaches the health level of society. The school is the smallest community that exists, and at the same time it can be the most used community and has the greatest impact on the family.

Afzali continued: When you raise the student’s health literacy through the student health ambassador, similar to what the police assistant does on the road level; It brings health literacy into the family. If we even increase the health literacy of the family by 10%, we can have a significant impact in the long run.

This exemplary provincial teacher pointed out: Unfortunately, during the Corona era, you witnessed that many people resisted wearing masks or opposed vaccination; These cases show that we have weak health literacy. If we had worked more in this field, the number of deaths would not have increased.

In describing the programs designed to teach health subjects in schools, he said: We have an educational calendar like all the grades; As a teacher should finish a book in a year; We also take actions in an academic year according to the health occasions that have been defined. Our working routine is that we have an active board in the school as the health board which is the health board for our student health ambassadors.

Afzali stated that we hold 8 to 10 training sessions for student health ambassadors; He said: These trainings have a specific scientific source. Through us, the ambassador students transfer the necessary training to the students of their class.

In fact, these teachers become health ambassadors of the regions. For example, students should not eat chips and puffs, or we introduce them to illegal foods. My own plan was the Mother’s Bites plan, which I implemented in schools because students came to school while bringing sausages and sausages with them.

We met with the families and advised the parents that even a bite of bread and cheese prepared by the mother is enough for the student because it is accompanied by love.

The health care worker of District 5 of Tehran city added: In previous years, one health care worker was introduced to the region for every 750 students. If the number of students in a school was adequate, a health care worker was always present in the school, and if the number of students in the school was small; The health teacher even covered up to three schools, but since last year, one caregiving hour is given for every 12 people, and one caregiver has decreased to 480 people instead of working with 750 people. But unfortunately, due to the lack of teachers and caregivers that we have, I am in three schools for 1400 I work as a student.

Referring to the recruitment of health care workers, Afzali said: Every year, education attracts a number of health care workers, but we hope that the process of these recruitments will continue and the number of recruited personnel will increase.
