US-France agreement to provide more security assistance to Ukraine



The US State Department said in a statement on Wednesday that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian today.

According to the statement, the US Secretary of State congratulated the French people on their successful election on April 24 and welcomed the continuation of close cooperation and strong relations with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The French and US foreign ministers also called for more security assistance to Ukraine’s armed forces to resist “a brutal and unwarranted invasion of Russia” and for other measures to hold President Vladimir Putin and his government accountable. He talked.

According to the statement, Blinken and Loudrian also discussed increasing support for Northern Macedonia and Albania on their path to EU membership.

Criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns, Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21, 2022, recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region.

Three days later, on Thursday, February 24, 1400, Putin launched a so-called “special operation” against Ukraine, shifting tensions between Moscow and Kiev to a military confrontation.
