According to Mehr’s reporter, the selection of the head coach for the national volleyball team has become a confusing mess and it is not clear when the status of this team will be determined. In the last meeting of the technical committee, where the head coach of the national volleyball team was supposed to be selected, all the deals broke down and in the end, not only was the head coach of the team not selected, but the spokesperson of the technical committee also announced that we are not in a hurry to select the head coach of the national team because we have enough time at our disposal. .
Of course, Moradi, the head of the volleyball federation, has emphasized many times that the main priority of the federation is to select a head coach, but now this issue has been postponed to an unknown time. One of the reasons for not choosing the head coach of the national team was the withdrawal of two options, people such as Vital Heinen (Belgium), Ann Gello Lorenzotti (Italy), Saeed Maarouf (Iran) and Roberto Piazza (Italy) were the final four options for the national team bench. After the end of the meeting of the technical committee, it was announced that two people from this four-member list withdrew from Iran.
In an interview with Mehr reporter, Ebrahim Wadi said about the process of selecting the head coach of Iran’s national volleyball team: I think the decision made by the technical committee to select the head coach was correct, where are the players of the national team now that we insist on choosing a head coach quickly in the current situation ?! Is the national team ready to hand it over to the head coach? If we are going to make a temporary decision for the national team, the same thing will happen in the Tokyo Olympics with Alceno, and only the federation will lose money and volleyball will lose money.
He said: If great coaches are added to a team at some point, they will not have an acceptable output and will not do anything, unless the team is fully prepared and a great coach is recruited to prepare the team mentally and psychologically. If the goal of the federation is to prepare a good team for a long period of time, it should definitely attract a top-class foreign coach and hand over the team to him with a long-term contract.
Iran’s volleyball coach stressed: We are now saying that a certain coach has won the championship in European teams, but can we provide him with the facilities that this coach has in terms of players in Iran?! This issue is not comparable. All we have to do for volleyball is to start from the grassroots first. If the junior and youth team wins the championship in the world, it is not the construction behind it, but it happened in the form of a greenhouse. If these teams get results, it doesn’t mean that we are very good, we have a lot of technical problems in the league right now, which all go back to the weakness in the basic level.
Wadi said: The efforts made by the training committee 20 years ago led to the formation of the golden generation in Iranian volleyball. After that, we gradually declined. Iranian volleyball did not achieve results only this year, but this team has been declining for the past seven years. It does not work. In the basic category, the results obtained are very valuable, but is there really a potential in the league for players to be invited to the national team from these matches and be able to get results and not tremble in front of Japan?!
The volleyball coach said: But the golden generation of volleyball managed to defeat Japan two years in a row. The same team, which did not get good results according to the gentlemen, won the seventh title in the League of Nations and won big teams like Poland, America, Slovenia and Serbia, but unfortunately we neglected the work and dealt with peripheral issues and as a result the state of the national team This is how it happened and we fell into what to do, and now we are in a hurry for the future of this team.
Wadi emphasized: If we bring the best and most up-to-date coach in the world to the national team, he will first of all look at the potential and existence of Iranian volleyball, including the condition of the players, the facilities, and the upcoming tournaments. In the current situation, looking at the names of coaches does not cure the pain of Iranian volleyball. We should pay attention to the assets of Iranian volleyball, not the resumes that have options for leading the national team. In the senior category, everything is the responsibility of the player and the coach helps the team more psychologically. We cannot decide too soon about the bench of the national team, all aspects must be considered
Iranian volleyball coach said: I think the best solution is for the federation to sign a five-year contract with a good foreign coach. In fact, his contract should be 1, 2, 2 years. Give him all the assets and let him not influence the team, like during the Alkeno era, when they told him to change three players in the middle of the road, and he listened to the command! This should not happen. The coach must have full authority. Our volleyball cannot achieve results with a temporary coach, maybe the wave of criticism will subside at once, but this decision will not benefit volleyball.
He said: The status of foreign coach’s assistants should be determined in advance, not like the past when every coach comes to Iran and brings his assistants with him. Iranian coaches should also be placed next to this foreign coach so that they can be trusted in the future. Iranian volleyball has 45 legionary players, how can we not have a coach?! Volleyball needs a foreign coach with a long-term contract who will be with the national team until the Olympics and then the contract will be extended for two years.
