Warning about the increase of dust storm in Tehran / President’s order to negotiate with 3 countries

Fars News Agency, Urban Group: During the last week, due to the increase of dust particles in the country, the index of air pollutants reached 500 and the air condition in Tehran and many cities of the country reached a dangerous state. This led to the closure of offices, schools and universities. Of course, today, compared to the previous days, the pollutant index has dropped, and although the air is polluted, the situation is not red and dangerous.
Tehran has had only 2 days of clean air since the beginning of the year
According to the Air Pollution Control Company, the air pollution index is currently 104 and Tehran’s air is polluted for sensitive groups in the society. During the last 24 hours, the average air quality index was 158 and Tehran’s air was polluted.
Also, since the beginning of the year, Tehran has had 2 days of clean air, 43 days of acceptable air and 16 days of polluted air for sensitive groups of society, 3 unhealthy days for all people and one day of dangerous air.
But the source of air pollution in spring is different from winter. These days, dust and suspended particles from fossil fuels in winter have been the cause of air pollution.
The epicenter of 3 dust storms in the country this year
Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Mirzaei Qomi, CEO of Tehran Air Quality Control Company, told a Fars reporter in this regard: In this year’s dust storms, especially those that have reached the city of Tehran, dust centers located abroad have played a much more colorful role than domestic centers. Specifically, the major share of the storms of April 19 and 20 were related to the epicenters in Iraq, Syria and Jordan, and in the hurricanes of May 17 and 18, the epicenters in Iraq and Saudi Arabia played a major role. The recent storm was also from Iraq.
Construction of several dams along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers by Turkey
He added: “Soil moisture and vegetation in areas with dust hotspots in recent years, has decreased, which can play an important role in the sequence of dust storms and their severity. The Euphrates has been created by Turkey in recent years. With the increase of desertification in Iraq and Syria, it has activated various dust centers in them, which have greatly affected the western regions of our country.
Increasing the occurrence of dust storms in the country
Mirzaei Qomi, pointing out that sometimes the intensity of dust storms is so high that it reaches the eastern regions of the country and the city of Mashhad, said: It can be predicted that with the continuation of the current trend, we will see an increase in the occurrence of dust storms in the country and in cities such as Tehran.
Turkey, Iraq and Syria 3 sides to control dust centers
He said: “Activation of environmental diplomacy and cooperation with countries involved in this phenomenon, especially Turkey, Iraq and Syria, with the aim of adopting and implementing the necessary measures to curb dust centers is of special importance and necessity.”
Important Chief Commandment on Air Pollution / People cannot witness such a situation every day
Ayatollah Seyyed Ibrahim Ra’isi, President, in a recent government meeting, referring to the increase in air pollution, called the health of the people a vital issue and said: “People can not see such a situation every day, and therefore I ask the head of the Environmental Protection Organization and Foreign Minister Resolve the issue without wasting time in negotiations with neighboring countries that are the source of these pollutants.
The president called “clean air” a right of the people and pointed to the increase in air pollution in different provinces of the country, saying: “People’s health is a vital issue and air pollution is unbearable for the people.”
23 devices are responsible for air pollution
Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, also said about air pollution in Tehran: “In total, 23 devices are responsible in the field of air pollution, and one of these 23 devices is the municipality.” We fully follow our duties, even if a device does not perform its duties; We help it to fulfill its legal duties because air pollution, although two words together, has a thousand and one points.
Referring to the sources of air pollution in Tehran, he reminded: part of the air pollutants is related to greenhouse gases, part of it is suspended particles in the air, some of which are dust and dust from urban sources and some are sources of pollutants in the provinces. Periphery or surrounding countries is its origin.
Zakani said that all devices are responsible for improving the air pollution situation in Tehran: “We have a duty to act in such a way that our pollution control system follows a path that can control both Tehran’s traffic vehicles and municipal vehicles such as buses.” Do not cause this contamination. In this direction, we are going to turn municipal cars into hybrid, electric and gas-powered cars.
He stressed: “Even if we import diesel cars, we import quality cars and install the various filters that are needed on them to minimize pollution.”
Will the capital be saved from polluters?
The root and source of summer and winter air pollution in Tehran is known. The president has now asked the head of the Environmental Protection Agency and the foreign minister to resolve the issue without delay in talks with neighboring countries, which are the source of the current pollutants, and it remains to be seen what plans will eventually be on the agenda. Will Tehran and many other cities breathe easy with the removal of pollutants?
