Warning: remove this spy app!

A program called iRecorder Screen Recorder, which was first published on Google Play as a tool to record videos from the screen of Android devices, changed its nature a year after being registered in this store. The app was first released in September 2021 and after an update in August, it started spying on people and recording a minute of audio every 15 minutes through the microphone of the users’ device. In the next step, this data is sent to the developer’s server through an encrypted link.
According to The Verge, after iRecorder Screen Recorder was updated in August 2022, malicious codes were added to this program and 50,000 people downloaded it before it was removed from the Play Store.
The release of malware and fraudulent programs in the Google and Apple app stores is not a new issue. Voice recording or screen recording programs sometimes deceive users with very high prices and fake reviews. Now it seems that some developers of these types of applications abuse them after some time by adding malicious codes and collecting sensitive information of users’ devices.
Google checks for updates to its Store apps and sends a notification each month to tell you which apps have changed their data sharing practices and when.
