Washington calls on Seoul to help resume Vienna talks

The South Korean Foreign Ministry announced today (Thursday) that Choi Jong-kun, South Korea’s first deputy foreign minister, and Robert Mali, the US special envoy for Iran, made a telephone call today regarding cooperation, according to Fars News Agency’s International Group. They discussed negotiations to revive Burjam.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement regarding Choi Jong-kan and Mali that Choi reiterated Seoul’s commitment to provide the necessary support for the resumption of the Vienna talks “given the importance of Seoul-Tehran relations”, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

According to the report, Mali called on Seoul to continue to play a “constructive” role in efforts to resume Vienna talks to revive Burjam.

So far, six rounds of talks have been held in Vienna between the United States and other parties to the Security Council other than Iran to facilitate the return of the United States to the Security Council. The parties say tangible progress has been made in the talks, but some differences remain.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that Washington had tried to talk about resuming nuclear talks last month, but that Tehran had asked the United States to provide $ 10 billion in blocked assets. Title good faith, release.

US officials have repeatedly dropped the ball on Iranian soil without mentioning the US unilateral withdrawal from Borjam, holding Iran responsible for reducing Borjami’s obligations.

“We are ready to go through these talks (Vienna),” Jennifer Gavito, the US deputy secretary of state for Iran and Iraq, told CNBC in an interview with CNBC earlier this week. Which was done in good faith, to return to the mutual adherence to Borjami’s commitments, and we hope that Iran will follow the same procedure. “We think it will be in their favor, but again, the ball is in Iran’s court.”
