Wave height increase up to 2.5 meters in the Persian Gulf

According to the Moj news agency, the Meteorological Organization issued a yellow warning warning of relatively strong winds on Thursday (February 17) and Friday (February 19).

The type of hazard resulting from this system will be an increase in wave height on the coast by 21 to 1.5 meters and offshore by 2 to 2.5 meters.

The affected area of this phenomenon is the central and southern regions of the Persian Gulf and the west of the Strait of Hormuz, in the coastal areas and off the coast of Bushehr and Hormozgan provinces.

The prevalence of these weather conditions can increase the possibility of disruption of marine activities, the possibility of damage to marine and coastal facilities, disruption of light, semi-heavy vessels and the possibility of tearing fishing nets and damage to fish farms.

The recommendation of the Meteorological Organization in these circumstances is caution in the movement of light and recreational boats, caution in maritime activities in offshore areas, caution in the movement of merchant ships and considering the necessary measures to prevent any damage.

A yellow alert means that atmospheric phenomena will occur that may interfere with travel and daily activities. This warning is issued to raise public awareness so that they can be prepared to deal with atmospheric phenomena that are slightly more severe than usual. Officials, on the other hand, are aware of these warnings so that they can take action if necessary.
