In an interview with the health reporter of Fars news agency, Bahram Chaina, the head of the Food and Drug Organization, said in response to some comments about the lack of serum in the country: Fortunately, with the necessary measures, there is no shortage of serum in the country.
He stated that the Food and Drug Organization monitors the status of drug shortages well and added: “Some people make comments without knowing the status of the drugs, while we do not have any shortage of serum in medical centers.”
Referring to the sending of the patient outside the hospital to obtain serum, the head of the Food and Drug Organization added: This usually happens in private hospitals by some profit-seeking people so that they can save the available serum. This is against the regulations and patients should report violations to the 190 system of the Ministry of Health.
Referring to the state of serum consumption in the country, he added: Due to the extreme heat in all parts of the world, serum consumption has increased significantly, and we are also facing a 40% increase in serum consumption compared to last year.
He added: Currently, the production capacity of serum in our country is 14 million units per month, which is distributed monthly to hospitals and medical centers without interruption, and two new production lines will be launched by the end of the year, and this capacity will be 16 million units. The head of the Food and Drug Organization also explained about some statements about sending serum to Iraq: no serum was sent from Iran to Iraq, but the Red Crescent purchased and distributed the serum needed for medical processions from Turkey.
He clarified: Unfortunately, some people are looking for political benefits with Josazi, while the country of Iraq had made the necessary preparations to host the pilgrims of Aba Abdallah (AS) and the medical preparations for the Iranian processions were made by the Red Crescent.
