What chips will Samsung phones be equipped with in 2022?

A new report outlining Samsung plans to launch smartphones in 2022 shows that the Koreans want to use Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets in most of their devices.

According to the news agency The Elec, Samsung plans to launch the phone in 2022 shows that almost half of the Galaxy phones in the new year will be marketed with Qualcomm processors. More precisely, at least 31 models will use the Snapdragon chipset and 21 models will use the Exynos chipset. Also, 13 devices are equipped with MediaTek chips and 3 devices with Unisoc chips.

This report does not sound like much of a surprise, but it does differ from a previous report that pointed to a significant increase in Exynos chips in Samsung’s 2022 handsets. The company usually prefers Qualcomm chipsets to other products, and in its latest flagships, it has used Snapdragon and Exynos chips at the same time.

The current report says that the Galaxy S22 series will be launched with Qualcomm’s next flagship, the Snapdragon 898. This chipset will probably be introduced in a few weeks. Samsung also plans to launch the family with its own Exynos 2200 chipset.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will also have Snapdragon 898. But the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy Tab S8 series come exclusively with the Exynos 2200. Of course, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S21 FE before these products, which will be produced at the same time as the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888.

Limited information on intermediaries is also provided. For example, the Galaxy A53 and A33 will use Exynos chips, while the Galaxy A73 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 778G chipset. This chip was previously used in the Galaxy M52. With all these details, we have to wait and see how the chip shortage crisis will affect Samsung’s plans.
