He stated that fortunately, the rules of brain death verification in our country are very strict and said: In all countries, one or two specialists confirm brain death, but in Iran, this is done by four specialists, and then a medical specialist. The CEO of the Iranian Organ Donation Association reminded: a brain-dead patient can be cared for for up to two weeks, while the quality of the brain-dead person’s body organs decreases with each passing day.
Stating that according to the law, all hospitals are obliged to inform the organ donation units of brain death cases, he said: “Fortunately, we have 64 organ donation units throughout the country, and therefore, if there is a case, the units will be notified, and if the family agrees, the donation work will be carried out.” The patient’s member is performed.
Najafizadeh stated: People who are interested in becoming a member of the Iranian Organ Donation Association can text their national code to 3432 and the card will be issued electronically.
