What were the achievements of integrating education into the health care system?

According to Fars News Agency’s health correspondent, Nasser Simforosh, advisor to the Minister of Health, wrote in a letter to the Speaker:

Name of God

Honorable Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly

Dear brother of Dr. Qalibaf

Greetings and Regards

According to the following, the revolutionary representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially the Education and Research Commission, are expected to pursue the issue of abstraction of education from treatment, which is not only the greatest medical achievement of the country but also one of the most prominent achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran. “And with the cooperation of the parliamentary health commission to assist in promoting the integration of education with health, which is the birth of the Islamic revolution.”

The country’s medical revolution began when medical education was separated from the Ministry of Science and joined the health sector. When medical education was in the possession of the Ministry of Science, firstly, due to the limited number of affiliated hospitals, about 400 physicians were trained per year. In Hamedan, when the revolutionary action of integration had not yet taken place, I visited the hospital affiliated to the Ministry of Science, which had turned a residential building into a hospital, where non-common diseases such as Cushing’s disease were hospitalized. The province referred to the Ministry of Health at a time when there were more medical facilities and most specialists were present. The integration of education with health caused the main hospitals of the provincial capitals to be placed next to education, which had two great benefits. Because in order to teach, they had to raise their scientific level and get acquainted with modern science. In general, the integration of education with health care improved the scientific level of the main hospitals of the provinces, as well as medical universities, health centers and health houses.

By integrating education in healthcare, the amazing progress of the Islamic Republic in the field of medicine in the context of the glorious Islamic Revolution as the fruit and fruit of the revolution, especially in the field of medical research and promotion of science in medicine, led to self-sufficiency in many fields. Prior to the merger, a large amount of foreign currency was spent on sending patients abroad, and patients suffered great financial and physical hardships and injuries along the way. In addition, foreign physicians were hired to solve medical problems. Who sent half of their salaries in dollars to their home country. Foreign doctors went to Western countries with a good level of science, and low-level doctors came to our country who were not familiar with our native medicine and caused many health problems.

With the establishment of universities of medical sciences in provincial centers and the establishment of numerous research centers in various fields and the training of efficient specialists, the need for foreign physicians and sending abroad was eliminated and the foreign exchange reserves obtained through this were used to promote education and health. Thus, the above trend in hiring foreign doctors and sending them abroad was reversed and Iran became a medical hub in education and research in the region. Today, many patients from different countries come to our country for complex and incurable treatments such as cardiovascular surgery, reconstructive and complex ophthalmology operations and similar operations in different fields, so not only do we have a privileged position in medical tourism, but also tourism. Education has also expanded and significant learners from countries in the region come to Iran for specialized and sub-specialized education.

For example, before the merger, $ 100,000 was paid for the transplant to the United States and $ 50,000 to the United Kingdom. $ 000 has been saved from just one disease, and if the lack of dialysis in these patients, which costs 6 times as much as a kidney transplant, we realize the importance of the issue, surgeons and specialists who have been trained in the field of integration in the country. And the resulting foreign exchange reserves have been spent on equipping centers and improving the country’s health indicators.

After the integration of education in health care, 5,000 to 7,000 doctors were trained annually instead of 400 at the time of the Ministry of Science, because the Ministry of Health was aware of the needs of the country, while the first concern and priority of the Ministry of Science was not to solve health problems. Doctors did not pay much attention, unaware that little progress led to competition and eventually qualitative progress and was able to create new research training centers.

The Covid epidemic well demonstrated the effectiveness of the integration of education and treatment, which showed the effectiveness of students and specialized and sub-specialized assistants in the scientific control of this disease in the country. In the imposed war, the Ministry of Health was able to record a unique history in the country’s medicine by sending professors to the holy defense fronts and low-income areas. At present, leading medical universities have carried out various activities in this field, which many The success of health technology owes much to these activities. Presence of 1400 health knowledge companies with a turnover of more than 40 thousand billion Rials and production of 4500 health knowledge products in knowledge-based companies based on local knowledge and presence in the domestic market, as well as production of 2422 health knowledge products in knowledge companies Visitors based in medical universities in order to implement the policy of resistance economy is another achievement of integration in the field of health technologies.

These technical achievements have been achieved through the interaction of medical universities and medical research centers with technical and non-medical universities. Is.

with respect

Dr. Nasser Simforosh

Senior Adviser to the Minister of Health and Medical Education
