Wounded eyes mean that others are amazed at our possessions, actions, and even our personality traits, and that surprise is to the extent that it destroys some of our spiritual or material possessions. Unfortunately, despite the fact that some people consider the wounded eye to be a superstitious thought, there are many narrations and hadiths that not only confirm its existence but also consider its power to be more than divine.

As the Holy Prophet says: “If something surpasses the divine value, it is eye-catching.”_{(Assembly Statement Volume 5 Page 428)}

In another narration, Imam Sadegh (AS) warns about the danger of sore eyes and says: “If the graves are opened for you, you will see that most of your dead have died with sore eyes because the sore eye is true.”
The Amir al-mu’minin also introduced it as one of the truths of the world system and said (Al-Ain Haqq) means to turn a blind eye to the truth and then say (and Al-Raqi Haqq) and resort to prayer to eliminate that right.
Contemplating the words of the Commander of the Faithful; The believer and the Muslim must take steps to be safe from the wounds of the eye, but unfortunately some people choose superstitious solutions that are not only rooted in Islam and our religious lifestyle, but also sometimes lead to the beliefs of Satanism. .

Breaking eggs; Extravagance or charity?
One of the most common ways to get rid of an eye sore is to break an egg. Sometimes strange letters and lines are drawn on it for faster effect, which is more like a spell, but what is the relationship between breaking an egg and getting rid of a sore eye? There is no specific narration to refer to. In contrast, several hadiths are available about almsgiving and removing calamity. For example, the Prophet of Islam says: Almsgiving removes seventy types of calamity and pain.

It is worthwhile to remove this superstitious behavior from our lifestyle and replace it with charity in order to both prevent extravagance and see a greater impact on the prevention of sore eyes.

Superstitions called blue eyes
It is interesting to know that the symbol of the victim’s eye or the victim’s opinion, which is known today as the symbol of the wounded eye and is used in Iranians’ houses, cars and decorative jewelry, has no religious argument or document. In ancient culture, people with blue eyes were considered sacred and lucky, and in modern culture, the blue eye is a kind of amulet against disaster, which of course is superstition.
Some believe that this symbol of the blue eye is in fact the eye of the Antichrist or the same evil figure who pretends to be the Messiah in the time before the Resurrection. Because according to Shiite and Sunni hadiths, the Antichrist has one eye and the other eye is blind. On the other hand, in most of the divine religions, evil beings are marked in blue. We have inadvertently used an evil symbol instead of appealing and praying to remove the evil.

Pecan and its effects on sore eyes
Smoking Pecan seeds is one of the behaviors that can be seen in our customs, although this behavior has no religious roots in order to eliminate calamity, but it is not contrary to reason and sharia. Of course, smoking pewter has been recommended by the Imams because of its soothing and healing properties, as Imam Ali says: No plant grows from pomegranate plants, unless angels are with it, and as long as you know who They arrive, they arrive, they protect. Pecan root is invigorating and its branch is the treatment of seventy-two pains.

Solutions to protect the eye from wounds

1 / Reading the verse and “An Yakad al-Din …” is useful for healing the sore eye.

3 / After the morning prayer, recite 50 verses of the Qur’an aloud.
4 / Read the two surahs of Mu’awzatin (Falaq and Nas) a lot.
