Which moles are dangerous? | Fars news

According to Fars news agency’s health department, Mehdi Qaisari, dermatologist and hair specialist and member of the faculty of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, talked about different types of skin moles in adults in the program “Mother of Children” of Sima Health Network.

The program expert answered the question, what are moles and why are they created? He said: Moles are usually created from melanocytes or skin pigment cells (of course, they can also be congenital), either in childhood or even acquired, up to the age of 30. After the age of 35, moles usually do not appear, and if moles appear at this age, there is a possibility of malignancy, which requires further investigation.

Kayseri considered the origin of moles from melanocytes or skin pigment cells, squamous cells of the skin, or from blood vessels and nerves.

He said: The color and shape of the moles are different and vary from red, blue, brown, black to the color of the skin itself.

He added: The most important cause of birthmarks is genetics and race. So that in some families, the location and number of moles in family members is fixed, of course, environmental factors are also involved in the occurrence of this genetic predisposition, i.e. the occurrence of moles.

This skin and hair specialist said: The most important environmental factor that causes moles is the sun and UV rays. The solarium, which is used for artificial tanning of the skin, is effective in the occurrence of more moles.

He also said: In certain cases, with hormonal changes, such as pregnancy, the occurrence of moles may increase.

Kayseri continued: Normal moles with a regular border, uniform color, smooth and round appearance, and irregular moles with non-uniform color are called dysplastic moles and are more likely to be malignant.

This dermatologist considered the creation of new moles at the age of 35 to 40 as a warning sign of malignant moles.

The faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University considered the types of moles to be very wide and the diagnosis of benign from malignant moles is possible only by a dermatologist.

He added: Sometimes mole cells must be seen under a microscope, and sampling of these moles is recommended for correct diagnosis.

In response to the question of whether it is dangerous to pluck the hair on a mole, the expert of the program said: Usually, congenital moles are formed around the hair follicles, and if the hair inside them is plucked, it will irritate the mole and cause pimples in them, but by no means. It does not cause malignancy.

Kayseri found it very dangerous to manipulate moles at home, because either way, these moles may spread to other areas, the best way to deal with moles is to see a dermatologist.

In response to the question of what is the origin of moles?, Qaysari said: moles originate from different cells: if these moles originate from blood vessels, they are called hemangioma, and their bottom color is red, of course, some moles with non-vascular origin are also colored They are seen red, the majority of moles that originate from blood vessels are benign, we also call these moles raspberry moles and they are usually not dangerous. The cause of red spots is not known and they develop with age.

He added: “Red moles, if they appear in old age, are not alarming provided that they are not injured and are not accompanied by pain and burning.”
