The number of corona hospitalizations in Tehran is not as severe as the previous waves

Regarding the statistics of Tehran city, Tabarsi said: Some patients from other cities are hospitalized in Tehran or travel to Tehran for other cases, but the number of hospitalizations in Tehran is not as severe as the previous waves. Fortunately, the new waves are not as intense as the previous ones.

The introduction of these drugs may create a new wave of requests for its use while there may be no need for them. For this reason, these drugs were not included in the treatment protocols of the country.

Tabarsi added: Pixelvid reduces the hospitalization rate by 90%, but it has a high price. A course of treatment with this drug costs about 530 dollars in the United States. This medicine is not available in Iran. On the other hand, a number of companies in Iran have taken the first steps to manufacture molnopiravir, but because this drug may cause cancer in the future or cause problems for pregnant women, it is used as the last priority for treatment.

He clarified: Remdesivir drug, which is also available in Iran, is superior to Molnopiravir, therefore the cost effectiveness of Pixlovid will be investigated by different parts of the Ministry of Health, so that further decisions can be made for it.
