The Iraqi people today staged a massive protest against the announced results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections.

According to Sputnik, Shafaq News reported on the protests against the election results in Iraq, according to the report, after the official announcement of the results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections, a large number of Iraqis took to the streets of Baghdad to oppose the results announced by the Election Commission. They went and protested.

According to the report, these large demonstrations are now taking place in many parts of Iraq, including Basra, Mosul al-Mahmoudiyah, Tal Afar and Baghdad.

Protesters blocked roads and set fire to tires to protest the recent parliamentary elections.

According to witnesses, the first protests began in the cities and around Basra in the south and extended to the northern areas of al-Hurriya and the al-Husseiniyah area in eastern Baghdad. They chanted slogans condemning the election commission and opposing election fraud.

Hussam al-Amiri, one of the activists in the Coordination Framework protests, said: “The protests will continue and will probably turn into peaceful sit-ins and will not end until our demands for a recount of all ballot boxes or a re-run of the elections are met.”
