Zarghami: Damavand world registration is a priority

Seyed Ezatullah Zarghami, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, in an interview with Fars News Agency’s tourism correspondent, regarding the reasons for the delay in Damavand’s global registration, said: “Despite Iran’s high capacity for world registration, UNESCO has decided to have an annual quota.”
“We had a lot of emphasis on Hegmataneh this year,” he said.
Zarghami, stating that in the world registration of works, we are faced with two categories of priority files and reservations, said: a number of files are in our priority, which are sent to UNESCO in turn, but reservation files are in our second priority.
The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, stating that the Damavand case has not been sent to UNESCO due to a number of problems and shortcomings, said: the work that is introduced should reach a standard state for registration in UNESCO.
In response to the question whether a permanent base has been established for Damavand or not, he said: “I do not know the latest situation, but the global registration of Damavand is our priority and its case is under investigation.”
