Zuckerberg goes to court again

The US Federal Trade Commission has brought the merger of a virtual reality health app developer company to the court, and Mark Zuckerberg is also expected to testify in this court.

According to Aetna from Mehr, Meta is fighting with government regulators in the federal courts for the purchase of “Vitin Ann Limited”. In this regard, Mark Zuckerberg is expected to appear as a witness in a court in San Jose (California).

This company has developed a virtual reality health app called “Super Natural”. The issue at trial is whether the company’s merger with Meta harms competition in the emerging augmented reality market. The US Federal Trade Commission believes that such a deal violates antitrust laws and, on the other hand, stagnates innovation. Also, app customers outside Meta’s platforms will have to pay a higher price for use and will have fewer choices.

The US Federal Trade Commission claimed in court that Meta abandoned its plans to enter the nascent virtual reality health market in the summer of 2021 and decided to buy Vitain.

Hal Singer, one of the witnesses of the Federal Commission, testified in court about this: threat is the factor that causes companies to continue operating. In this way, companies continue to innovate and prices stay low.

But Meta claims that it has no plans to create a competitive application and that it is not capable of doing such an action in the negotiations that have come to this conclusion.

Mark Rabkin, Metta’s vice president of virtual reality, also testified in court that Metta could probably create a virtual reality health system, but the chances of success would be very small.

The US Federal Trade Commission’s complaint against the merger of this small company in Meta shows the aggressive stance of Lina Khan (director of the said agency) against large technology companies and antitrust laws.
