6 new foreign languages are taught in schools – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news
According to Mehr News Agency, based on the resolution of the 1,26th session of the Supreme Council of Education, in line with the implementation of the 1-5 strategy of the document on the fundamental transformation of education, regarding the provision of foreign language education in the framework of the optional (semi-prescriptive) part of the curriculum, with Observing the principle of strengthening and strengthening the Islamic-Iranian identity and amending the resolution of the 678th session of the Supreme Council of Education on November 2, 2018, the Ministry of Education is allowed to use foreign languages, in addition to English, according to the new social needs and demands and by observing the principle of diversification. To teach Arabic, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Chinese languages.
Based on this, the Ministry of Education is obliged to:
1- To approve the curriculum of foreign languages by the Supreme Council of Education.
2- To author, compile, adapt or introduce educational-educational materials and resources based on the foreign language curriculum approved by the Supreme Council of Education with the participation of other governmental and non-governmental sectors.
3- With the priority of holding face-to-face classes, in areas where it is not possible to provide face-to-face teaching of non-English languages, conduct face-to-face or combined training.
4- To provide the necessary mechanisms for students applying to learn and evaluate foreign languages other than English in the Iranian language center or other specialized educational institutions approved by the Ministry of Education.
5- To provide a comprehensive and complete review of the English language education situation, along with qualitative suggestions for improving language education, to the Supreme Council of Education within six months.
According to note 1 and 2 of this resolution, the implementation instructions of this single article will be prepared by the Ministry of Education and will be announced with the signature of the Minister of Education and with the notification of this resolution, conflicting resolutions regarding the teaching of foreign languages will be canceled.
