Afghanistan’s border with Iran reopened in Herat province – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

The Ministry of Defense of the Taliban interim government announced that the border crossing between Iran and Afghanistan in Islam Qala district of Herat province was reopened after the tension between the two sides was reduced, Mehr news agency reported.
Ministry spokesman Enayatullah Kharazmi said the ministry’s policy is clear and they are not indifferent to border issues with neighboring countries.
The Iran-Afghanistan border crossing (Dogharun-Islam Qala) was closed on Saturday after tensions between the two countries’ border guards.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred after the Taliban border forces intended to build a road in the border area of the two countries, which was opposed by the border guards of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran’s move was met with resistance from Taliban forces, and the two sides went on strike after an argument.
Following this incident, the Dugharun border was temporarily closed.
Hassan Kazemi-Ghomi, Special Representative of the President of Iran for Afghanistan, had said about the Dugharun border incident between the Iranian and Taliban border guards:
He stressed: in the contact with the Ministry of Interior and the Taliban Defense, it was emphasized that the actions should be stopped and the issue should be resolved within the framework of the High Commission for Border and Document Modernization of the two countries.
