Al-Maliki Coalition: The resignation of the governors in order to put pressure on the protesters is the result of the election

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, the “State of Law” coalition led by former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced that it was exerting political pressure on governors to resign.

“The resignations of the governors are a lever of pressure used against the groups protesting the election results,” Mohammad al-Zayadi, a member of the State of Law Coalition and the winning candidate in the recent Iraqi elections, told Mawazin News.

“These actions will never affect the Iraqi political process,” he said. “These actions are useless and such tricks are not the end or the limit for the democratic process in Iraq.”

The governor of Najaf, Louis Eliassy, announced his resignation from his post at a press conference on Friday, saying: “Today, I will present my resignation from the governorship of Najaf to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.”

He claimed that his resignation was due to pressure and threats against him and his family

Eliasser also called the recent protests in Najaf a political one, saying he knew who was supporting them.

He added: “If there is any case against me from any side, I am ready to appear before the judiciary.”

Ahmad Ghani al-Khafaji, the governor of Dhi Qar province in southern Iraq, also announced his resignation on Thursday.

End of message.
