Allocating a special train for Tehran Metro from November 1st / What percentage will the number of passengers in the underground city increase?

Fars News Agency Urban Group: The 70th session of the Supreme Traffic Council of Tehran was held late last week in the presence of the members of this council to decide on the hours of implementation of the traffic plan. One of the factors influencing the heavy traffic conditions was the ineffectiveness of the traffic restrictions imposed on the traffic plan because the implementation of the traffic plan had changed from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM and from 6:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Therefore, it was decided to change these hours. In the first step, from 10 November, the morning traffic hours will change from 8:30 to 7:30 in the morning and sometimes from 16 to 17 in the evening. The corona will be changed immediately on the same day from 7:30 to 6:30 in the morning and from 5 to 6 p.m.

This decision has caused many citizens to complain, because the lack of public transport fleet will cause a sharp increase in the number of subway and bus passengers from November 1, while the corona has not yet been fully restrained and there are still about 50 people a day in the capital. 10 people die due to the infamous Covid virus.

Currently, 161 metro trains are active / special train allocation from 10 Aban

About the statistics of subway passengers and the arrangements of Tehran Metro Operating Company, we went to Ali Abdullahpour, CEO of Tehran Metro Operating Company. Regarding this issue, he told Fars: “Currently, the distance between the trains is due to the social distance in the shortest possible time, and this process will continue at the same time as the traffic plan increases.”

Azoud: Of course, if we face a crowd on the platforms, we will definitely consider extraordinary trains to transport passengers.

The CEO of Tehran Metro Operating Company, pointing out that Tehran Metro has 171 trains, said: “About 25% of the trains are always in repair condition and in case the traffic plan hours are to increase, the repair time of the trains will also accelerate.”

Abdollahpour stated: At present, 161 metro trains are active and the rest are in repair shop conditions.

Noting that we are fully prepared to make the necessary arrangements to serve passengers, he said: “Experience has shown that early in the implementation of the increase in traffic hours, passengers’ welcome from the subway increases, but gradually the statistics decrease and the situation It is normal.

A 50% increase in passenger numbers is very optimistic

The CEO of Tehran Metro Operation Company pointed out: It is very optimistic that it is said that the number of passengers will increase by 50%, and maybe this statistic is only for the first days and weeks of the return of traffic plan hours.

Vaccination in 22 metro stations and injection of 1000 vaccines daily to passengers

Abdollahpour said: “Currently, passengers are vaccinated in 22 metro stations in Tehran, and thousands of people are vaccinated against coronation at the stations daily.”

Certainly the municipality cannot develop public transport alone

But the city council believes that the number of passengers will double sharply as the hours of the traffic plan increase. Nasser Amani, a member of the city council, said: “I have stated many times that if the number of corona is reduced and the traffic restrictions are lifted, the number of public transport passengers will increase. If we see the reopening of schools, the number of subway and bus passengers will definitely increase.” Certainly, with the decision of the next two days, the burden of public transport passengers will be doubled, and the friends of the municipality should pay more attention to this area and devote more time to the development of public transport.

Amani said about the shortage in the public transport fleet: the city administration has promised that a large number of new buses and 500 buses that had been taken out of the transport cycle due to repairs will be returned to the fleet for overhaul wagons. We also need urgent action. We should not forget that the municipality certainly does not have the possibility of developing public transportation alone, and in the long run, with the help of the government, this issue should be realized as comprehensively as possible.

Facilities must be provided to citizens quickly and immediately in the field of transportation

Seyyed Jafar Tashkari Hashemi, head of the Civil Engineering and Transportation Commission of the sixth term of the Islamic Council of Tehran, also told Fars in this regard: We are returning the traffic to Tehran to its pre-corona state, while public transport is not in a good condition. The bus network is weak and needs to be developed immediately. Public transportation facilities should be increased as soon as possible.

The member of the city council stated: the facilities should be provided to the citizens quickly and immediately in the field of transportation and the buses that have been deactivated due to repairs should be reactivated. It is said that the required parts of the buses are foreign and now We do not have imports, it does not matter much. The bus companies have announced their readiness to deliver the required parts. There is no obstacle in this regard for reconstruction, and if the contracts are closed, the bus companies will also provide their products.

Our priority first is to develop the buses and overhaul them.

He added: “Therefore, we do not have the problem of shortage of parts or the issue of sanctions.” Rather, it is a matter of resources, and if it is provided, action will be taken quickly and more buses will reach the level of the streets. Some bus lanes are up to half an hour away, which is why people are turning to private cars. Also, the intelligent bus scheduling system was active in the past and all bus services were provided according to the schedule. Unfortunately, at present, this system is not fully operational and we are practically witnessing defects in the bus schedule in Tehran.

Our priority is first to develop the buses and their overhaul, and then the issue of the metro is important to us. In addition to the fact that the metro must increase the number of trains and wagons, it is also necessary to reduce the distance of trains. Studies have shown that most private cars in the city often do not have more than one passenger, while if there is a bus, 50 to 60 passengers in a car can be transported by bus.

Zakani’s order for a plan to transform public transport / follow up on citizens’ demands

In two days, the traffic schedule will increase, and citizens will be concerned about the lack of buses and subway cars. The new city administration has followed suit, and Alireza Zakani, the new mayor of Tehran, has also ordered a development plan in various areas, especially public transportation. Citizens are waiting for the new city administration to take action to alleviate the problems of subway and bus shortages. Now we have to wait and see what the new urban management transformation plan for the public transport fleet will look like.
