Be prepared for Hormozgan Cultural Heritage Preservation Unit following the Finn earthquake / Sending experts to different areas to investigate possible damage



Sohrab Banavand, Director General of Heritage, Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts of Hormozgan Province, in an interview with Heritage Aria reporter about this evening’s earthquake in this province, said: “The protection unit is immediately on standby.”

“Statistics on the extent of damage to historic buildings are not yet known,” he added. “Relevant experts have been sent to different parts of the province to assess the possible damage.”

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck north of Bandar Abbas near the city of Finn at 3:37 pm on Sunday, November 14th. Also, about one minute later, at 15:38, another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 was recorded in this area.

700-year-old Fin Castle is located about one hundred kilometers north of Bandar Abbas, which in 1381 reached the number of 7270 national monuments. This castle was slightly damaged in the 2007 earthquake and in 2016, parts of it, including the walls and stone wall, were repaired.
