Britain: The risk of war with Russia is greater than ever

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, General Nick Carter, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the British Army, warned that the risk of an accidental war between Russia and the West was greater than ever during the Cold War.

“I think we are in a much more competitive world than in the last 10 or 15 years, and I think the nature of competition between countries and great powers will lead to bigger tensions, and I think tensions are something,” he told the Radio Times. “That should be taken care of.”

General Carter compared the current situation to earlier times when he was in the military in 1978.

“When you and I grew up, the world was a bipolar world,” he added. Two blocs: the Soviet Union and the West. “After that we went to a time when the world was unipolar and the United States was quite prominent.”

The British general added: “I think we are in a time when the world is becoming more polarized and I think in a multipolar world people are competing for different goals and different instructions, and there is a greater risk that “Tensions lead to more.”

“People should not, in the end, allow the belligerent nature of some policies to put us in a position where escalating tensions lead to miscalculations,” Carter warned politicians against unnecessary escalation.

“Many of the diplomatic pillar tools and mechanisms we grew up with during the Cold War are not applicable here, and without these tools and mechanisms, there is a greater risk that escalations could lead to miscalculations.”

End of message.
