Cement remained in the hands of factories / Why no one buys cement?

According to Tejarat News, the cement market calmed down and the price of cement remained unchanged in the past month. Surveys show that people are no longer willing to buy cement. Of course, the producers had already said that cement would not become more expensive if the factories were supplied with electricity.

Each bag of cement costs 24,000 Tomans

The secretary of the Cement Industry Association tells Tejarat News: Each bag of cement is sold at a price of 24,000 Tomans on the commodity exchange, and each ton of cement costs 480,000 Tomans. Bulk cement has also been sold at a price of 345,000 Tomans.

Abdolreza Sheikhan explained: The supply of cement to the commodity exchange has also increased in the past month. In other words, factories supply 1.2 million tons of cement to the commodity exchange every week, but the demand for cement has decreased. Sometimes the price of cement in the commodity exchange is cheaper than 24 thousand tomans, but there is no purchase.

“People do not buy cement because prices have been fixed and the cement depot is no longer economically justified,” he said. Even in some provinces and different areas of Tehran, due to heavy competition, cement was offered at a lower price, but still there was no customer to buy.

Some builders also say housing construction has stalled due in part to rising costs.

People buy cement based on the needs of the day

Also, in the past few months, some builders have been forced to increase their demand for cement due to their obligations to the people for fear of a shortage of cement.

Now, with the supply of electricity to factories, they are no longer afraid of a shortage of cement and buy their goods according to the needs of the day.

Referring to the market situation, the secretary of the Cement Industry Association said: The price of cement in the open market has also remained stable. In the past, there was no cement in the shop windows and some of the cement was hoarded, but now in the shop windows, the number of existing applicants and the shortage have not been reported.

Previously, each bag of cement was sold at a price of 70 to 90 thousand tomans. In the past month, however, the price of each bag of cement has dropped between 30,000 and 50,000 tomans.

In September, Abdolreza Sheikhan, the secretary of the Cement Association, said: “The maximum real value of a bag of cement is about 40,000 tomans. “We advise people not to buy a bag of cement if it was above 40,000 tomans!”
