Complaints of the veteran actor about the neglect; let’s see the artists of the city beyond the festivals

According to the theater reporter of Fars news agency, the 28th regional theater festival of the country, after the competition of eight provinces in the Pars regional theater festival, is now being held in Razavi Khorasan province under the title of Khavaran regional theater festival.

On this occasion, Atesh Taghipour, a veteran theater actor, mentioned the importance of holding regional festivals and their impact on the career path of active artists in the country’s provinces.

Referring to regional theater festivals, Taghipour said: “If we lived in a country like England, I would speak on the basis that we don’t have small and big roles, but we have big and small actors, but we live in Iran; “Unfortunately, the artists of our country will not be seen in deprived provinces that have little access to facilities, and they will be lost in the hustle and bustle of the times.”

He continued: “Even though the visibility of provincial artists depends on their own efforts, holding various festivals such as the regional theater festival is perhaps a course to showcase the art and efforts that they face in their professional path.”

The artist added: “The theater groups of the provinces gather together with all the difficulties and start producing art. They should place themselves in the eyes, minds and brains of the managers, people and artists of the capital among all the hustle and bustle of Tehran.

Taghipour explained: “Provincial and regional theater festivals and all opportunities that allow city artists to be seen should be given more attention and support.”

Pointing out that we should not be satisfied with just holding festivals and small numbers of festivals, and city artists need infrastructure, budget and support for production, he added: “The least that artists, especially the veterans of the country’s performing arts field, can do is for the dear and hardworking activists. To do theater in the provinces is to join them in order to gain their rights and be seen and watch their works in festivals and public performances.

This veteran actor continued: “Cultural managers can accompany artists by providing credit and budget, equipping theaters, considering insurance and dealing with other problems and concerns of artists. “Festivals are not the only way to see provincial artists and value their art.”

Referring to the presence of the street section in the 28th regional theater festival of the country, Taghipour said: “Street performance is protest theater and what is customary in Iran is very different from the original of this performance art. The addition of the street section in the festival is definitely valuable, but it should be noted that the performance of these works and their impact on the formation of the general flow of the theater is important, and it should address social issues and concerns.”

Khavaran regional theater festival hosted by Razavi Khorasan province, from 10th to 14th of December, hosts 21 stage shows and 15 street shows from eight provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan, Golestan, Kerman, Tehran, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Mazandaran and East Azerbaijan.

The 28th regional theater festival of the country will be held after Fars province (Pars), hosted by Khorasan Razavi (Khavran), Semnan (Silk Road) and East Azarbaijan (Sahand). The winners of this artistic event will enter the 42nd Fajr International Theater Festival.
