Duolingo uses ChatGPT successor to enhance language learning

OpenAI just released the much-anticipated GPT-4, bringing with it a supercharged generative language engine that makes it much more capable at tasks that previously required a lot of human effort and focus.
In addition to being able to process much larger sets of text at a time, GPT-4-based systems can now understand images, providing context-sensitive responses to image-based queries; And of course, GPT-4 provides many other features as well. Probably many users have already subscribed to ChatGPT Plus and gained initial experience from it, but in any case, by expanding it to popular apps, a much wider range of users will also benefit from its benefits.

One such popular app is language learning platform Duolingo, which has announced a new Max subscription tier that adds AI-powered features like Explain My Answer and Roleplay.
Otherwise, Duolingo Max includes the same features available as part of Super Duolingo, including ad-free learning, unlimited lives, and unlimited attempts at legendary challenges.

Pricing for a Duolingo Max subscription has yet to be announced, but you can probably expect it to cost a bit more than Super Duolingo, which is around $7 per month.
You can try the service for free for two weeks, which is a perfect amount of time to decide if it’s worth paying for.

How Duolingo Max is changing the way you learn languages

The “Explain My Answer” feature in Duolingo Max builds on the existing “Browse Mistakes” feature, asking Duo (the app’s dedicated chatbot) to give a detailed explanation of your answers, whether they are correct or not. No. This feature clearly explains the correctness of your answer, and you can ask for more explanation and examples if the initial answer wasn’t helpful enough. The user cannot ask Duo custom questions, but instead, after each section, it provides a few pre-set prompts to help move the lesson along.

Roleplay feature is even cooler. At certain points during your learning curve, Duo offers you the opportunity to have practice conversations with fictional characters.
You’ll hear subtitled sentences from these characters, who might ask you about your plans for a fictional vacation or invite you to coffee. When you enter your answer, Duo will let you know how accurate and grammatical you are.
