Improving regional relations through the diplomatic initiative of the 13th government

According to the IRNA correspondent, Iran is in one of the most sensitive geopolitical situations in the world and this issue has made it one of the most attractive centers of regional diplomacy. From the very beginning, the 13th government emphasized the priority of neighborhood and regional policy, and introduced it as the most important factor in establishing stability and constructive relations based on bilateral and multilateral dialogue.

In a meeting with Sheikh Khalifa al-Harithi, Deputy Foreign Minister of Oman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian called the improvement and expansion of relations with neighbors a priority of the foreign policy of Ayatollah Seyyed Ibrahim Reisi’s government and emphasized Oman’s special position among neighbors. .

Emphasizing the need for bilateral efforts to enhance the volume of trade relations between the two countries at the level of friendly relations between the two countries, Amir Abdullahian said that the Islamic Republic is committed to dialogue and adopting political solutions to resolve bilateral and regional problems. Stressed the promotion of bilateral relations.

Iran’s neighbors, especially in the Persian Gulf, are prone to dialogue and normal relations. Although there are hidden rivalries and tensions that should not be overlooked, the art of diplomacy can be an opportunity to establish relations in various political, economic and security dimensions. And provide society, and this requires smart diplomacy, especially as countries move toward soft power.

Ali Bagheri, our Deputy Foreign Minister, in the eighth round of the meeting of the Joint Committee of Strategic Consultations between Iran and Oman, stressed the need for the region to resolve regional issues, and expressed hope that the existing problems will be resolved based on dialogue between countries. Be. Sheikh Khalifa Al-Harithi, referring to Iran’s pivotal role in regional developments, said that his country, as in the past, is interested in developing bilateral and regional relations and considers peaceful paths necessary for peace and tranquility in the region. Al-Harithi said that relations between Iran and Oman, which have regional and trans-regional influences, will continue.

Due to Iran’s position in the world and regional system, our country’s interaction and relations with regional poles are very important. Following the Islamic Awakening, the Middle East region was in a tense situation for many years, but with the beginning of 2021, the situation changed compared to the past. Despite the continuing conflict between Palestine and the occupying regime in Jerusalem, as well as the Taliban’s complete control over Afghanistan, there were signs of improvement and stability in regional relations. The severance of diplomatic relations in the Arab world ended and diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries and Qatar were restored.

After Joe Biden took office, the United States adjusted its Middle East strategy, ending the Trump administration’s policy of inciting Arab countries against Iran. The Biden administration has made reviving the Iran nuclear deal a diplomatic priority in the Middle East. All these factors caused the Arab countries to change their attitudes. In the context of the security of the new regions, the countries of the region have realized the limitations of their capabilities, so the Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, moved to improve relations with Iran. The Thirteenth Government also accelerated the improvement and advancement of relations by making regional diplomacy one of its priorities.

Addressing officials attending the 21st SCO Summit, Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Ra’isi stressed that Iran’s foreign policy orientation should focus on “economic multilateralism” and strengthen “neighborhood policy” in its broadest sense, and strengthen its presence in There will be regional organizations.

Our Foreign Minister also explained the foreign policy doctrine of the 13th government during his regional tour in October. Amir Abdullahian said that looking at our neighbors and looking at Asia and interacting with the countries of this region is our first priority in the field of foreign policy, and stressed: looking at Asia does not mean that we do not pay attention to other regions, including the West. One of the characteristics of a balanced foreign policy is to use every opportunity in other areas of the world to maximize the interests of our nation, while paying attention to priorities.

In addition, interaction with neighboring countries can neutralize the current threats in the region. The policies, orientations and hostile actions of the Zionist regime is one of the most important threats against Iran’s security, stability and progress. Is one of the key strategies to deal with threats. Increasing the interaction of our country’s diplomatic apparatus with the neighbors and countries of the region and the realization of diplomacy and regional talks can neutralize the policy of Iranophobia of the Zionist regime and the West.

Building trust, reassurance, and ultimately interaction and cooperation are three phases that countries in the region must go through to converge. The initiatives of the 13th government in the field of diplomacy have been effective in changing the approach of the countries in the region, the 13th government with its diplomatic initiatives has been able to persuade the Arab countries to improve regional relations.
