Jake Sullivan: Agreement with Iran is not our priority right now

According to the report of the Fars International News Agency, Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor of the White House, stated on Monday that the agreement with Iran regarding the country’s nuclear program is not currently the priority of the US President Joe Biden’s government.
According to the Reuters news agency, during a trip to Mexico with US President Joe Biden, Sullivan said that the US government has made it clear that the nuclear deal with Iran is not a priority right now.
Despite this, he stated that the US government still believes that better diplomacy is the way to ensure that Iran does not get a “nuclear weapon”.
Analysts say that some factors in America, such as pressure from the Zionist regime, disagreements with Congress, and internal problems in America, have been the reason for the reluctance of the Biden administration to return to the JCPOA in the past months.
Biden came to office in 2021 when the policy of maximum pressure against Iran had failed to achieve its goals. In addition to failing to form a new nuclear agreement, this policy caused division in the relations between the countries on both sides of the Atlantic, endangering the effectiveness of the sanctions system as one of the main tools of American foreign policy, and most importantly, strengthening the anti-arrogance trend in Iran. .
The Islamic Republic of Iran has made the verification of the lifting of sanctions, obtaining guarantees regarding the durability of the JCPOA and the removal of safeguards claims of the Atomic Agency as its main demands in the negotiations to lift the sanctions and has emphasized that only returning to the bilateral agreement, which in exchange for some restrictions, will bring tangible economic benefits to the Iranian nation. He considers it logical to be accompanied and accepts it.
A few days ago, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that his country had presented a “simple and understandable” model for all parties to return to their commitments in the JCPOA, but the United States and the European Union have slowed down the process of revitalizing the agreement near the finish line. “They turned to creating tension in Iran’s internal political situation.”
Lavrov said that all the details were explained in detail in this plan. He added that the JCPOA can be implemented if there is political will.
Lavrov further emphasized that time has proven that the 2015 nuclear deal has no reasonable alternative. He condemned the “irresponsible” statements of the West about “alternative options” and “other unacceptable options”.
In another part of his statement, Jake Sullivan repeated the denied claims about the delivery of drones by Iran to Russia for use in the Ukraine war and claimed that Tehran may be involved in “massive war crimes” with this action.
Sullivan claimed: “Iran has chosen to step on a path where its weapons will be used to kill civilians in Ukraine and plunge Ukrainian cities into a cold and dark state, which, in our opinion, puts Iran in a situation where this country is likely to Contribute to widespread war crimes.
The National Security Adviser of the White House further pointed to the European and American sanctions against Iran in connection with the same issue and said that these are examples of actions that the United States and Europe are trying to reduce these relations between Iran and Russia.
Jake Sullivan also said that during his trip to occupied Palestine, he will consult with the new officials of the Zionist regime’s cabinet regarding the “threat of Iran”.
In the past years, Western countries led by the United States and the Zionist regime have accused Iran of pursuing military goals in the country’s nuclear program. Iran has strongly denied these claims.
Iran emphasizes that as one of the signatories of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to access nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency have visited Iran’s nuclear facilities many times but have never found any evidence that the country’s peaceful nuclear energy program has been diverted towards military purposes.
