Parliament plan for autogas A solution for safe development of CNG and LPG in the country’s fuel basket

Ruhollah Nejabat, a member of the 1401 Budget Bill Consolidation Commission, in an interview with Fars News Agency economic reporter, referring to the benefits of developing autogas in the country along with CNG, gasoline and diesel, said: It is wasted in the national pipeline, so using LPG in cars is an optimal solution to this problem and has many benefits.

He continued: “The benefits of autogas can be to prevent the loss of liquefied natural gas, export gasoline and diesel at a higher price if liquefied gas is replaced with these fuels in cars, reduce air pollution, especially in metropolitan areas due to its lower pollution than gasoline and diesel and diversification.” He referred to the fuel basket and strengthening the country’s energy security.

Najabat said: “Despite the significant amount of liquefied petroleum gas in the country, the use of this fuel in cars, given that we do not have PDH petrochemicals now, is a comparative advantage for the country and this opportunity should not be neglected.” The only petrochemical unit of LPG feed is Salman Farsi unit, which has developed only 50% since 1989.

* The return on investment of the private sector to build an autogas plant is 3 years

A member of the Budget Integration Commission said: “Since the technical facilities of the autogas project are completely localized in the country and do not require the import of any parts, so in terms of construction and commissioning of the refueling station according to calculations made with the cooperation of the Energy Commission and various research centers and think tanks.” This plan is completely justifiable.

He added: “It is not necessary for the government to enter to build the station, but it can also involve the private sector in setting up official LPG stations with the right regulation.” This will be quite cost-effective for the private sector as well, as the cost of setting up a liquefied gas station will be reimbursed in about 3 years.

Najabat said: “Even from the point of view of car owners, since the car travel with this fuel is very high, it will be very economical both in terms of time and economy.” From any point of view, the country’s advantage is over the development of autogas and the export of gasoline and diesel.

A member of the Budget Integration Commission said: “If we look at this issue from a macro-national perspective, in addition to diversifying the fuel basket, it also creates more economic benefits than exporting it.” Because we can export the equivalent equivalent of released gasoline and diesel at a higher price per ton.

* Assembly autogas plan is a solution for balanced development of CNG and LPG in the fuel basket

He added: “If liquefied petroleum gas enters the fuel basket as autogas, it is necessary for price corrections to take place in it, and in other words, its price should be adjusted so that it is less than gasoline and more than CNG.” This both supports the development of CNG and allows LPG to compete with this fuel for superiority over gasoline. These concerns about the role and position of each fuel in the country’s fuel basket can be managed properly.

Najabat said: “Note that the reason why more than one million liquefied gas vehicles in the country now use this fuel in a non-standard and dangerous way is that we could not prevent competition and replacement by organizing this fuel and determining its special place in the fuel basket.” Let’s do it with CNG.

A member of the Budget Integration Commission said: “If the autogas plan is approved and implemented according to the policies envisaged in this plan, the competition between LPG and CNG fuels will automatically disappear and further development of CNG will occur because autogas after Price correction will intelligently fill CNG gaps.

* Autogas is a self-sufficient design

He added: “Opponents of the autogas plan take a stand against the unsafe nature of LPG, because their perception of autogas is the current stations, which are completely non-standard and unsafe, and in some cases, even car tanks are installed very unsafe.”

Nejabat said: “But if the autogas plan is approved by the parliament and the LPG infrastructure is developed as standard and with the help of the private sector, the use of this fuel in Iran will be as safe as in other countries. Incidentally, the parliament has proposed a plan to secure this issue.”

A member of the Budget Integration Commission said: “The Autogas project of the parliament is a self-sufficient project that from the resources obtained from the project itself, it will be possible to standardize and provide safety to cars and stations.”
