Researchers advise women to reduce the risk of dementia

According to the reporter of Science and Progress Group of Fars News Agency, quoted by Daily Mail, according to a recent study, motherhood and its subsequent menopause may reduce the risk of dementia in women.

The George Institute for Global Health studied 273,000 medical records and found that menopause before the age of 47 was associated with a 43% higher chance of developing dementia.

It is claimed that the higher incidence of dementia in women can be due to hormones, and for this reason, motherhood and subsequent menopause can reduce the risk of dementia in women.

Another study conducted on more than half a million people shows that women who have no children are 18% more likely to develop dementia than mothers of two children. Also, in women who enter menopause naturally at the age of 47, it is 32% more than women whose menopause starts at the age of 50.

Pregnancy and the childbearing years before menopause can help prevent dementia by exposing a woman to more estrogen throughout her life. This hormone at the right level in the body can help protect the brain.
