Self-imports released / Foreign car price forecast / Who can import cars?

According to Tejaratnews, from now on, any natural or legal person can import an all-electric or hybrid or gasoline or gas-burning car in exchange for the export of a car or through import without currency transfer. Of course, the amount of imports will be determined by the Competition Council.
In a public meeting today (Wednesday), members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly resolved and approved the Guardian Council’s objections to the plan to reorganize the automobile industry.
Accordingly, Article 4 is amended as follows:
Any natural or legal person can import an all-electric or two-force (hybrid) car or import a car in exchange for the export of cars or car parts or other goods or services related to various types of propulsion industries, or through imports without currency transfer. Gasoline or gas burner with energy label b (b) and higher or with a safety index of three stars or higher based on valid standard certificates, equivalent to its export value.
Note 1- The import of the subject of this article should not create any new foreign exchange obligation for the country.
Note 2- The ceiling of the number of authorized imported cars is determined once every six months by the Competition Council based on the amount of supply shortage in relation to the effective demand for passenger cars during the past year.
Note 3- Restricting having a dealership or providing after-sales services is prohibited only from foreign automakers. Other relevant regulations are determined by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade.
Note 4- Re-importation of exported items subject to this article is prohibited and is considered as smuggled goods.
Earlier, car market participants predicted that if such a bill was passed, the price of foreign cars in the market would probably fall. Mehdi Dadfar, secretary of the Automobile Importers Association, has predicted a price reduction of up to 80 percent, but due to the rising dollar, limited car imports and difficult conditions, others do not believe so and consider the price reduction to be temporary and insignificant.
