Strange event in the car market / shopping queue for imported cars of veterans

According to Tejarat News, a few days ago, Amir Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, vice president and head of the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation, announced the pursuit of importing 5,000 cars for veterans and said: “Nearly 5,000 cars should be delivered to veterans, but it is possible.” There are no car imports except from free zones. The fact that all five thousand cars are imported through the Arvand Free Zone or through distribution in different free zones requires that we be able to define the license plates of these cars for veterans for the whole country. This issue needs the approval of the Council of Ministers. (ISNA)

This statement was made while on January 18 last year, the technical deputy of Iran’s customs denied any new license in connection with the import of cars for veterans 25% and above and the families of the martyrs and said: , Has no legal validity.

However, the issue of granting foreign car import licenses to 5,000 veterans seems to have revived.

According to the latest statistics announced for the summer of two years ago, the number of veterans in the country by Rahim Narimani, Director General of Documents and Publications of the Foundation for Martyrs and Veterans Affairs was more than 583 thousand people (Reporters Club). Waiting for a car import license, which also seems to have created a considerable black market.

On several sites, you can see advertisements for the purchase of import licenses for veterans who have either recently started or have already been active in such a market, and have also maintained their advertisements so that the veterans may sell the import license for cars.

There has been a similar experience in the Iranian economy in 1993. At that time, at the request of the head of the Martyr Foundation and senior government officials, and in accordance with Article 138 of the Constitution, it was decided that 9,200 vehicles would comply with the government’s decree banning the registration of car orders over 2,500 cc for 70% of veterans in accordance with the law. And the customs and administrative regulations of the country to enter the country.

At that time, there were some criticisms that the black market was created for such occasional licenses, but in any case, it remains to be seen whether licenses will be granted this time or not, and secondly, if given, will the black market of licenses be formed?
