The ability to create a channel in the WhatsApp messenger is now enabled for 150 countries. This feature called “Channels” can be accessed through the “Updates” section.

The ability to create a channel has finally reached WhatsApp

The “channels” feature in WhatsApp allows admins to broadcast one-way content such as text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls to their followers. WhatsApp has made it possible for users of this messenger to follow their latest news and events by providing the opportunity to create channels for prominent personalities, organizations and sports teams.

Channels are distinct from regular chats and the identity of the channels users follow is not revealed to other followers. In this section, WhatsApp has prioritized the protection of personal information for channel administrators and followers.

WhatsApp has also made some updates to improve the performance of channels, which we will review below.

1. Advanced list: Users can easily find channels filtered by country. They can also see new, active and popular channels by number of followers.

2. Reactions: Users can express their feedback using emojis and see the total number of reactions. Of course, reactions will remain private for followers.

3. Editing: Admins will soon be able to edit their updates for up to 30 days. After this period, the updates will be automatically removed from the WhatsApp servers.

4. Bazarsal (Forward): When users post an update to chats or groups, the posted message includes a link to the channel that allows others to get a summary of the channel’s information.

WhatsApp is also committed to improving channels based on user feedback. In the coming months, this messenger will allow all its users to create their own channel.

How to use Whatsapp channels

• To find and follow channels, open the WhatsApp app and go to the new “Updates” tab. In addition, you can search for channels by name or keyword.
• Once you find the channel you want to follow, tap on “Follow”. You can then choose to receive updates from the channel in your notifications.
• Go to the “Updates” tab to see updates from the channels you follow. You can also view updates from a specific channel by tapping on its name.
• You can react to updates by tapping the emoji button. You can also send updates to chats or groups by tapping the forward button.
