The book “World of Glass 2” was unveiled / A narration of the expo events from the beginning until now

According to the Fars News Agency music correspondent, the book “The World of Glass 2” has been published by Aradman Publications by the Roudaki Cultural and Artistic Foundation as the custodian of art expo events, and its unveiling ceremony was performed by Mohsen Hassanzadeh held.

Mehdi Afzali, CEO of the Roudaki Foundation, at the beginning of the ceremony, while welcoming the participants about the importance of the expo, said: “The expo should be considered by the public and holding such a ceremony is also important for this event.” The expo has a long history and dates back to 1851. Iran’s presence in the expo during the seventeen years has not been very significant.

He interpreted the expo as a cultural Olympics and continued: “Unfortunately, the expo is not known in public opinion and even among intellectuals.” Members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in the Cultural Commission also do not have a comprehensive and complete knowledge of the expo. While the Dubai Expo is projected to reach 25 million people, it has nearly 30 million visitors, which is due to its attractive, spectacular and important existence. The countries of the world have a very serious presence in this event, and this year, in accordance with the slogan of “connecting ideas, creating the future”, they have participated in this event, which has many achievements for them.

Explaining that the focus of countries’ participation in the social and cultural expo is central, the CEO of the Roudaki Foundation stated: “Unfortunately, we Iranians have a commercial view of this event and commercial companies think that they should participate in it.” The management style of the expo needs to be improved. At present, the Ministry of Silence and the Exhibition Company of Iran are the managers and custodians of the expo, and consequently the relevant organizations are invited.

He said that the theme of the expo and its cultural slogan should be considered, adding: “The expo will be held in Japan for the next 5 years and we need to have a cultural country in it and pay attention to the theme of the expo.”
Referring to the book “World of Glass 2”, Afzali said about the author’s concern and continued: “It is unfortunate that the total number of books published about the expo does not reach five volumes.” Hundreds of books in this field should be written and published. I thank Alireza Bahrami for paying attention to this issue. I hope to be present in the future expo in a serious and managed manner, and I request the Health Assembly and related bodies to pay special attention to this event.

A new window for cultural studies

Then, researcher Nader Karimian considered this book as a new window for scientific, cultural and applied studies and added: “The world of glass 2” is very attractive and valuable and can be a support for future research movements and those interested in world expos.

He had a review of this book and explained: In the introduction of the book, the author has introduced the expo, which shows his concern and insistence on the importance and presence in world exhibitions. The book consists of 7 chapters, 5 of which are the introduction of world expos. Very comprehensive and good material is presented from the distant past and we understand from the generality of those two things, firstly, showing, emphasizing and importance of expos in the world, cultural exchanges and friendships and secondly, Iran’s position in this event. The book contains many color illustrations that are published in the best quality.

Referring to the word expo, Karimian considered it to mean getting out and coming out of the closed space and specified: every nation and ethnicity should get out of the closed space and expose itself to the eyes of others. Iran, with its cultural and civilizational background, should be invasive in this area.

He also suggested holding “literary expos” and said: “In the auspicious period of Al-Saman, we had a literary expo and the master of poets, Rudaki Bozorg was the head of the series of poets.” I hope that in the future Iran will be able to manage the literary expo because of the glorious literature we have.

Karimian lamented that we had a short and poor performance in cultural diplomacy, adding that other countries are active and hold various programs while their hands are empty in terms of cultural foundations, they could only succeed because of their good management. In cultural diplomacy, economic and political diplomacy can be promoted. This trend has prevailed since time immemorial, and even countries that have recognized growth and development and are known in the world were strong first in cultural diplomacy and then in political and economic issues.

Continuing the ceremony, Alireza Bahrami, the author of the book “The World of Glass 2”, explaining that one can have a specific evaluation, analysis and judgment about each of Iran’s periods in world expos, added: “Four times in the Qajar period, only once in Pahlavi era and so far eight appearances in the years after the revolution and the eight-year war. But perhaps the point that is less mentioned or not mentioned at all is that the process of development and social progress of Iran in the years before the constitutional’s onset is due to the Expo.

Challenging royal travels accompanied by visits to expos and the continuation of experiences or manifestations of modern life. However, despite Iran’s 170-year intermittent presence at world expos, it has done very poorly in documenting its own and others’ experiences; Experiences that could be the basis of many optimal decision makers.

He stated that solitary movements are, of course, also difficult, ranging from deadlocks and frustrations to work-related and wound-up difficulties and sometimes incorrect and incorrect judgments. 11 years of experience in the field of field presence and study of expos shows the fact that Iran’s presence in this influential global arena has structural flaws, the most important of which is the lack of studies and lack of attention to activities based on rich Iranian culture and art. On this basis, I believe that two urgent measures must be taken to increase Iran’s participation in the Cultural Olympics, and if this does not happen, we will not achieve more in another hundred years in the same way.

Bahrami also made two proposals, one to make changes to improve the structure and executive management of Iran’s presence in comprehensive global and specialized international expos. Second, the establishment of a permanent institution or office in the Ministry of Guidance or its affiliated institutions with the cooperation of bodies such as the National Document Organization of the Ministry of Silence, etc., for the purpose of study and research, design and planning, and documenting on a regular and regular basis.

He also thanked the director of the Roudaki Foundation for supporting the publication of the book and added: “I will have the opportunity to write the third volume of this book and I hope it will continue.”
Then, three members of the Tehran Symphony Orchestra performed with the presence of Forough Fazli, Mojgan Mohammad Hosseini and Zahra Sabri.

Subsequently, Mahmoud Shaloui, Acting Deputy Minister of Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, conveyed greetings and apologies to Mohammad Mehdi Ismaili, Minister of Guidance, for not being able to attend another meeting due to the symmetry of the ceremony.
He thanked the Minister of Guidance, Mehdi Afzali, who during his tenure, had appropriate cultural and artistic activities and was able to play an important role in the domestic arena and external aspects. Also, Bahrami, who was able to publish the book “The World of Glass 2” out of interest and enthusiasm with the help of the Roudaki Foundation.

Shaloui, noting that he has witnessed the international presence of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the world arena for a long time, clarified: At a time when I was a cultural advisor, Mr. Afzali contacted me. We have plans for an expo in Milan, which unfortunately did not happen I was in charge during the Dubai Expo and I am receiving more up-to-date information. Mr. Afzali said that it is very important, in addition to cultural diplomacy, we should also pay attention to artistic diplomacy, which are two separate categories.

Emphasizing that we need to know for what purposes we are present in the world community, he said: We need to know what purpose and content we want for this presence. This identification is very important. We may have signed agreements with more than 40 countries that are 50 years old, and when we look at these agreements we have had several cultural offices that need to know what success we have achieved and to what extent we have established ourselves in the world or profited from these exchanges. برده‌ایم. We must have a serious cultural approach and not forget the economic interests that work together.

Shaloui added: I was present at the 53rd Venice Biennale. The president of the biennial told me to attend this event with your own resources. I borrowed from this sentence, which shows that Iranian art is very important to the world.
He considered the establishment of linguistic communication and the use of a series of symbols and technology techniques to be effective in attracting the audience.

Explaining that we should think more about content, ideas and thoughts in order to attend cultural and artistic events, Shaloui stated: “Remove obstacles to provide opportunities for visitors.” Examine what the obstacles have been over the years. We insist that the Ministry of Guidance assumes the responsibility and management of the expo, which belongs to Iran, and it is the right thing to do. The Minister is constantly following this issue.

At the end of the ceremony, with the presence of Mohammad Shaloui, Mehdi Afzali, Niknam Hosseinpour, Alireza Bahrami, Alireza Esmaili, Alireza Shirvi and Peri Maleki, the book “The World of Glass 2” was unveiled.
