The Iraj Zand Foundation will be inaugurated

According to Fars News Agency, the “Iraj Zand” Foundation, the late painter and sculptor, will start working on Friday, October 7, 1400, in a ceremony attended by artists, and the public will be able to visit it from October 9, 2009. This foundation has started working under the management of Mani Zand.

Sayeh Barimani, Zand’s wife and a member of the foundation’s board of directors, said about the establishment and the inauguration ceremony: “After Iraj Zand’s death in 2006, we thought of establishing a foundation to collect his collection of works and on the other hand we can legally own Iraj Zand Let’s protect it too. The best time to establish the foundation is at this time, because the generation that Iraj was in contact with, as well as the generation after him, are still present and active. While the generations after Iraj may know him much less, and if the establishment of the foundation was postponed to later years, there would be no connection between us and the new range of artists. Iraj’s emotional connection with these two generations can be better shaped by founding the foundation.

Regarding the goals of the foundation, the director of the Iraj Zand Foundation added: “One of the goals of the artists’ foundations around the world is to prevent the copying of works and to determine the authenticity of the works.” One of the important activities of the foundation is to create a principled and correct archive of works and to have their identity cards and legal registration.

He said: “Another thing that the foundation can do is to spread the art of that artist among the people.” When an original work by an artist is sold and enters someone else’s home, it is completely his or her own and no one else can see or have it. But I think the foundation can provide the works it has in other forms, such as posters or volumetric samples, etc., so that they can also benefit from seeing these works. This is what is done with the works of many prominent artists in the world.

The building of this foundation is located in Karim Khan Zand Street, South Kheradmand Street, Vahdati-Manesh Alley.

Iraj Zand, a painter and sculptor, was born in Tehran in 1329 and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran. There are also several murals of him in the assembly hall of the Organization for Development and Renovation and Fresco on the wall of the church of Saint-Marie-Avignon in France.

Iraj Zand died in December 2006 due to illness.
