The welfare services of Iranian prisoners are beyond those of other countries

According to Fars News Agency, Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Chief of Staff for International Affairs of the Judiciary and Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited Evin Detention Center.

During this several-hour visit, Gharibabadi, by attending some counseling centers and wards of Evin Detention Center, was informed about the current facilities and the judicial, welfare and accommodation conditions of the clients.

In a part of this rebellion and talking to the clients, the secretary of the human rights headquarters emphasized: the prisoners are on loan to us and the necessary services, especially what they want, must be provided in accordance with the regulations. It is a pity that with all these remarkable services in prisons, we can be accused again by creating some incorrect margins.

Other countries are unlikely to provide our prison services

He continued: “Today, we see positive services to clients in prisons, and on this basis, I believe that the measures taken in the field of providing services to prisoners should be published continuously so that others are aware of these positive measures.”

Gharibabadi said that one of the plans of the Human Rights Headquarters is to establish interactions between the prisons organization and the relevant international institutions and said: “During the Corona period, modern experiences and methods in the field of prison guarding have occurred that need to be exchanged; However, it is unlikely that other countries will really offer our services to clients.

He also emphasized on preventing unfortunate incidents in prisons and added: “Our prison guard model is humane, just as I know the welfare facilities in prisons beyond other countries.” At the same time, no one tolerates the ill-treatment of prisoners and we do not accept that their rights are violated.

A prisoner is subject to constant pardon, so he must abide by prison rules

The Deputy Minister for International Affairs and Human Rights of the Judiciary added: A prisoner must follow the rules of the prison in order to be subject to permanent pardon. Laws must be made clear to them so that we can both correct their behavior and violations and deal with them.

He reminded: the prisoner must follow all the instructions; This is not a violation of human rights, but the non-implementation of the instructions is a violation of the law. We will also monitor the problems and, at our discretion, propose them to the head of the judiciary, and we will also try to contact the officers.

The new directive issued in the field of prisoners’ dignity is very progressive

Gharibabadi, referring to the responsibilities of the Human Rights Headquarters, said: “According to the regulations of the Prisons Organization and the new directive issued in the field of prisoners’ dignity, which happens to be very progressive, a prisoner should have full rights and his judicial status should be followed.” In these sections, we also have a duty to monitor for shortcomings and possible abuses.

It is worth mentioning that Kazem Gharibabadi visited Evin Detention Center, Mehdi Farahani, Deputy Chief Justice of the Prisons Organization, Ali Rostami, Director General of Tehran Prisons, Ali Hashemi, Head of Evin Prison, along with managers and a group of supervising judges.

In addition to visiting and inspecting some wards and evaluating the facilities and services provided to prisoners, the Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters also emphasized in face-to-face conversations with some of the clients to follow up on their case.
