Victus 2’s Gorilla Glass protects the phone better against heavy drops

Glass Gorilla Glass which is produced by the Corning company, is used in many smartphones, and now this company, by introducing its new version, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 (Victus 2) promises more resistance. According to Corning, the new glass composition provides better performance when the phone is dropped on uneven surfaces such as concrete, and users’ phone after falling from One meter distance on concretewill also survive as one of the hardest levels possible.

Improving the durability and resistance of Gorilla Glass Victus 2

Corning claims Gorilla Glass Victus 2 has survived a one-meter drop onto a concrete surface in its tests. The company’s statement also said that samples produced by competing companies may fail from a distance of half a meter or less.

However, like the 2020 Gorilla Glass Victus, the new glass will still maintain its resistance after being dropped from a distance of two meters onto asphalt surfaces, surviving more than 20 consecutive drops from a distance of one meter, and more Not very prone to scratches.

Next, the company explains:

“Victus 2 also survived a two-meter drop onto asphalt, and its scratch resistance is up to four times better than aluminosilicate mineral.”

Corning says its goal is to create a glass that’s durable enough to withstand a device’s display being dropped from a waist-length distance onto harder surfaces.

The company also notes that current phones are 15 percent heavier and 10 percent larger than devices four years ago, which increases the impact and strain on the display.

At the moment, it’s unclear which devices will get the Victus 2’s Gorilla Glass first. However, Corning said its product is “designed for more than 8 billion devices from 45 major brands.” For example, Apple is a major investor in the company, having invested $250 million in it several years ago. We can also expect Samsung to go for this technology for its flagship Galaxy S23 series.
