Vivo is likely to release the first rollable phone before Samsung

Although Samsung has been working on rollable or sliding displays for a long time, it seems that the Chinese company Vivo, in collaboration with Transsion, wants to surpass the South Korean tech giant and release the first mobile with a rollable screen before them, in 2024.

Korean magazine The Elec According to informed sources, two companies, Vivo and Transsion, want to release the first phone with a rollable screen in 2024. Transsion company had previously revealed the concept of its rolling product called Techno Phantom Ultimate.

The concept phone had a display that was normally 6.55 inches but could be opened up to 7.11 inches. This mechanism allowed the user to have access to a larger screen when needed in a different way than folding phones.

Vivo’s rollable phone is likely to be made in collaboration with Transsion

The joint Vivo and Transsion mobile will probably get its rollable display from BOE or Samsung Display. But the sources claim that BOE has a better chance in this field because it has a higher enthusiasm for this cooperation.

Another option mentioned for supplying these panels is the Chinese company CSOT. The company already made the panel of the Techno Phantom Ultimate concept phone, so it may also help Vivo and Transsion in this collaboration.

The move to rollable screen technology could be a response to Samsung’s dominance of the foldable phone market. With the introduction of the Galaxy Fold series, this Korean giant was soon able to introduce this brand in the folding phone market and become the first choice of fans of these products.

But now it seems that Chinese companies have taken the lead in producing rolling phones. Of course, in the end, we have to wait to see if this unofficial report will become a reality or not. Nothing has been officially announced in this regard yet.
