World Tourism Day 2021 demonstrates the power of tourism for inclusive growth

According to Aria Heritage, the text of the message of Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, reads:
“Human desire to travel and explore is universal. That is why tourism should be open to everyone. Therefore, the many social and economic benefits that tourism brings should be available to all. World Tourism Day 2021 demonstrates the power of tourism for inclusive growth. In honor of this day, we pledge that as tourism grows, the benefits will be felt at all levels of the industry’s vast and diverse sector, from the largest airline to the smallest family business.
Today, we are committed again as we move forward and strive to create a better and more peaceful world through tourism, we will not ignore anyone.
This is a timely and necessary commitment. Interruptions in international travel due to the epidemic have revealed the dependence and connection of tourism with our communities.
The economic and social impacts of the epidemic have been far-reaching, and in many places, the most vulnerable in society have been most affected.
Striving for inclusive growth means that everyone enjoys an optimal tourism perspective. Only in this way can the resumption of tourism find the people and communities that need it most right now and build a better future for all.
“I welcome all member states, affiliates, governments, destinations and tourism businesses to join us in celebrating this day, as the importance of tourism is evident in every part of our community more than ever.”
