According to Fars News Agency’s Health Group, Abbas Shahsoni, Head of the Air Health and Climate Change Group of the Center for Environmental and Occupational Health of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, stated that 16 stations in Tehran are in an “unhealthy situation for all groups”. “More than 150 people are in a state of emergency,” he said. “Sensitive groups, the elderly, respiratory and heart patients, pregnant women and children should not travel around the city as much as possible.”
He continued: “Athletes should also avoid outdoor sports and people who should be present at work should be less present outdoors.”
According to Shahsoni, since the beginning of the year, we have not had a single day of clean air in Tehran.
The head of the Air Health and Climate Change Department of the Center for Environmental and Occupational Health of the Ministry of Health stated: “In these circumstances, there is an increase in heart or lung disease and premature death in heart patients and the elderly and respiratory symptoms in the general population.”
